Android apps on your Chromebook it's
not as bad as you might think but some apps
are a little iffy, you know
I've tested the Skype app and it works perfectly fine
and that's the only way I can get Skype to work on my Chromebook
so that's what I'm going to be installing today
so first off you wanna you wanna grab this
ARChon Custom Runtime: alright
this link will be in the description, going to scroll down
and you want to grab your version 64-bit 32-bit
ARM-based, I'm 64-bit
so good ahead and click the mirror here, I already have it downloaded
so don't worry so now
here it is here right here, you're going to want to open the zip file
and want to drag your folder out here I've already done that
so here's my folder right here: alright
now you want to go back to your browser
in the top right hand corner click
down to more tools: extensions
now you want to make sure developer mode
is enabled that's not enabled by default so make sure that enabled
you want to load and unpacked extension, you wanna select
vladikoff ARChon press Enter or click open
you'll see that is a loaded extension now
good good good alright next you're going to need
a app on the chrome store called Twerk
on the webstore
simple enough it's called Twerk
it should be the first
it should be the first option to show up it's an app Twerk alright
already have it installed and its open right here this is what it looks like
so now now
I'm assuming you have your APK of the
app you want to install, if you do not go get it now
see I have Skype APK right here
version 5.2.0 blahblahblah
you want to just drag the APK and drop it
drop apk here pretty self-explanatory
you can
name the application or anything you might
want to do here so I'm going to
change this to Skype do not
change the package name do not change the package name!
the version needs to have something
all right you have something in the version most the times it'll come by
default: 1337
but not always I usually like to go ahead
and to the exact version but that's completely optional
is make sure it's not blank now
phone or tablet is completely optional
either works it's a personal preference if you prefer the phone version
of the app with the tablet version of the app and
portrait or landscape um
for Skype I would recommend portrait good but there's some games
if you want to win use this method for games
you'd probably want to use landscape so
portrait I'd always recommend you use a scale
that way you can go do this
yeah you can't do that if you aren't fixed size
it'll be a fixed size just like this little thing here
you cannot drag it
at all so I'm going to put it on scale
external directory and offline
do not matter don't worry about it click this little Twerk button here
now here
you want to put it in a folder are going to, name my
folder tutorial okay
now with open the tutorial skype has been built
you look in the tutorial folder here there is this called com.skype.raider_twerk
that contains all the app files well
one thing I didn't mention you can add you can add an icon here
cuz that will be by default the little Android guy
so you can add an icon pretty easily
pretty self-explanitory I don't need to go over it alright
now you're going to go back to your browser back to your extensions
load unpacked extensions and tutorial
you guessed it we're going to load this Skype right here
alright here it is
right here
Um I don't exactly know why the icon didn't work
but that's not important right now so if I
where to load Skype, Skype's loading
Skype is
still loading don't worry it will load, there we go
Skype is loading alright
gonna go and sign just so you know
this works I'm going to drag this over here so you can not see my username and password
or not
oops
sign in, drag this back over here
signing in
still signing in if you're wondering I didn't know
if you could see that or not but yes we are still signing in
no don't panic Skype is available
alright see all notifications
from your apps will pop up in your notification bar which is
very nice alright X
and as you can see I am logged in to Skype
alright well there you have it guys
that is how you install an Android app
on your Chromebook now remember some apps
do not work but you just gonna have to try them
that's all I can really tell you I can tell you
the Skype app works perfectly fine and uh
one more other thing if you're installing Skype app and you experience
sound issues like a sound's not playing, I experience that once before
don't really know what to tell you it fixed itself
after restarting Skype a couple times so I don't know what to tell you
if you're experiencing that problem alright
thanks for watching if you enjoyed leave a like
if you have any questions leave a comment I'll be sure to reply
and uh, have a good one
