What to Blog About - How to Choose a Topic to Blog About?

My name is Alek and in this video I will share with you some recommendations on...
What to Blog About?
If you watched the previous video where we discussed about the essential parts of a blog,
you already know that...
You can start a blog by writing about yourself, your hobby, your favorite music, your dog...
literally anything.
While it may be easier to manage one blog on many topics, it does not always make good
sense to do so, because you will end up losing a focused niche.
Having a niche topic for your blog is advantageous because it brings in loyal readers who are
specifically interested in your topic, and who will bookmark your blog or subscribe to
it via rss feeds.
Having a focused topic also makes your blog more attractive to advertisers who are looking
for sites with content that is relevant to their product or service.
Writing about a specific topic will also build your credibility, especially if your posts
are referenced by other bloggers writing on the same topic, establishing your reputation
as an authority or expert on that specific field or topic.
So, how do you choose a topic to blog about?
The first advice is to choose A Topic That You Are Passionate About
Write about something that interests you. Do not choose a topic just because you think
it's popular or because you think advertisers will like it.
Readers will sense if you are truly passionate about what you are writing about. If you choose
a topic that you're not really interested in, your lack of expertise will show through.
No one wants to read something that the writer is just 'hacking out' for the sake of having
something to post.
It also takes time and effort to become a popular or successful blogger, and it doesn't
happen overnight.
So ask yourself: Am I willing to write about this theme for several weeks, months, or even
years?
If not, then you better choose another topic.
The second advice is to choose a topic that you are knowledgeable about
If you are knowledgeable in your chosen topic, then you should not have any problem coming
up with fresh content as the days go by.
If you are not knowledgeable in your chosen topic, then chances are you will one day run
out of things to say, and that spells the death of your blog.
Find out if you have enough to say about your chosen topic. You should also have access
to good sources and reference materials that can help you write about your topic.
If you have good content, traffic to your blog will increase.
It is also important to consider the topic's level of popularity
While you should not choose a topic simply because it's popular, it is sensible to consider
a theme that a lot of people would want to read about.
Doing this ensures that there will be a large market for your content.
Blogs about blogging, technology, politics, and making money online are among the most
popular topics in the net today.
Pursue these topics only if you can offer something more valuable than what others blogs
are already offering.
It's all about striking a balance and finding the right niche. If your aim is to make money
out of your blog through advertising or sponsorships, then...
...consider the less popular themes that only a few seem to be blogging about, but are still
broad or popular enough to gather a healthy following.
In short, choose a popular enough topic, but one that's not too popular or your blog will
be drowned out by the competition.

Remember that you want to build a community among bloggers and not create competition.
Advice numer 4 is to choose a topic that is growing and timeless
What good would it be to blog about something that nobody will care about by next year?
When deciding on a topic for your blog, choose one that has the potential to persist -- a
theme that even the succeeding generations will appreciate reading in the future.
The fifth advice is to choose a common topic and give it a twist
If you really want to write about a common topic, then set yourself apart by giving it
a twist. Use a different angle or write it for a specific group of people.
For example, everybody seems to be blogging about the latest apps. But instead of just
writing reviews, why not make a blog that shares how-to's, tips and tricks, and useful
'hacks' for specific apps?
Last but not least, choose a topic that has potential income streams
This may not be applicable to everyone, but again, if one of your aims is to make money
out of your blog, then you should consider a topic that has obvious potential income
streams.
There are many different ways to earn money through blogging such as affiliate programs,
Google Adsense, etc., but not every topic is suitable for each of them.
Now that you know what to blog about and how to choose your blog topic, it's time to think
about your blogging platform
This is why i invite to watch the next video called...
Why wordpress
In that video we will discuss in more details about the reasons why wordpress is the most
popular blogging platform in the world, and...
...why it may be the best and easiest option for you to create your first blog.
